Are you aware about this day? Every year June 26th is observed as The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, declared by the United nations in regards to the abhorrent nature and behavior the innocent people of the world have been facing because of the unlimited and irrevocable free availability of the drugs around the globe. With many people becoming an anti to this international observance, the reason for this insane behavior can find its traces today in the paradigm of the society we live in.
After all, a society where its people are having a mentality of having a ‘heroine’ to be a hero, has caused a lot to this world. By far almost every nation has been fighting from this lucrative addiction disease caused by the drugs. Where many amongst us who are the pro-supporters of many such drugs and are promoting its existence by buying this ‘dirt’ has helped it to set its foot strong in the world markets.
OBJECTIVE OF THIS DAY!
The campaign against the drugs and its availability was launched because of the severe cases found in states and other parts of the world where due to the excessive intake of the drugs and severe addiction, many of the new born babies were diagnosed with the in borne addiction disease due to which their survival was made a notion of doubt. Thus, The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has, over the years, been actively involved in launching campaigns to mobilize support for drug control. The UNODC often teams up with other organizations and encourages people in society to actively take part in these campaigns.
Governments, organizations and individuals in many countries, including Vietnam, Borneo and Thailand, have actively participated in promotional events and larger scale activities, such as public rallies and mass media involvement, to promote the awareness of dangers associated with illicit drugs.
Theme for this year observance!
2016 Theme — Listen First
‘Listen First’ is an initiative to increase support for prevention of drug use that is based on science and is thus an effective investment in the well-being of children and youth, their families and their communities. After all, to reach to a solution, it is always better to listen and solve!
Look at this video posted by the UNODC on their site for making you understand the message better.
What do people do?
It is declared as a global observance and not a public holiday!
Thus, this day is supposed to be observed with the sense of responsibility towards taking an initiative towards making others aware about the illicit facts which may occur after the drug has been taken. Many people choose their ways to reach out to the mass to let them know that how this has been a disease which is an another paralysis to the world and to the people.
So, this Sunday be an initiator and take a step towards the better living and making it better for others to live.
