Miss Earth India, which is a beauty pageant with a cause and responsibility, is driven by an ultimate aim to enhance our awareness and sustainable development on the environmental crisis and challenges. Every year, 4 winners are crowned as the following representative elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire to promote environmental awareness. The winner of the earth element represents as Miss Earth India to compete in the international platform.
Miss Earth India has been one amongst the few renowned pageants who has been contributing in the social development with the zeal of young beauties in its bag. Presently, for the year 2016, Miss Earth India has been an active participant in a series of environmental events supporting the initiative of “Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao” and “Green, Waste– Free India”.
The “Beti Bachao– Beti Padhao” commemorates to ensure the rights of the girl child. Whereas, Green Waste – Free India campaign emphasizes to “Keep Clean our India and Make Green Our India”.
Miss Earth India initiative runs a 12-month intensive environmental campaign annually, which allows the green ambassadors to interact with the masses, such as the grassroots, decision makers, movers and shakers of the industry, simultaneously leveraging on the power of broadcasting and media to instill a sense of civic – consciousness and social responsibility to protect and preserve our environment. This campaign substantiate with their reigning title holders dedicating their year to promote environmental projects and to address issues concerning the environment.
Miss Earth India started its search screenings in the beginning of this year across the nation. Which brought the competition to a destination with the selected finalists like Shaan who hails from Madhya Pradesh to Chum Darang who comes from Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh and others who are going to have a tussle to be crowned for the responsibility to present India internationally and bring the opportunity with her to make the environment better.
