The book is so finished, and here we are waiting patiently for HBO to explode the fireworks set for season 6. With no reference to fall upon, here is Stylewhack’s take on what we can expect from Game of Thrones in the upcoming season –
Is Jon Snow dead?
According to HBO sources, the premiere episode is titled “The Red Woman” and episode synopsis says “Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.”
Now the question is will the red woman a.k.a Melisandre make John Snow alive? As we know she is capable of making the dead alive. Otherwise why the episode title “The Red Woman”?
Brienne and Jaime will meet again
They repelled each other when they met, the headstrong woman warrior who despised the king slayer. But during their time together, we came to know a different side of Jaime Lannister which made us fall in love with him.
Guess what? We might see Brienne and Jaime together again. But do not expect to have a amicable meet. We might see some fights between the two and the end might not be sweet.
Sansa Stark finally learns some plotting from Little Finger?
The second teaser released by HBO of Game of Thrones season 6 definitely shows Sansa in a more empowered character rather than the helpless and dumb Stark princess. Her character has evolved in the past seasons and the hardships she has gone through has finally made her an intelligent woman. Not to forget her close alliance with the Little Finger.
There is a possibility of Sansa and Davos (with Stannis gone now, or is he?) forming a powerful alliance that will be one of the major attractions of season 6.
Nymeria, Arya’s wolf may come with a wolfpack
The books did mention about Nymeria, Arya’s direwolf which gathers a pack and keeps people in the forest off King’s road. Also, Bran might not be the only one in the Stark family who can control animal minds. There was a slight mention in the books, that Aryaa had started unknowingly to dwell in the past and especially warg into Nymeria in her sleep.
So we might see Nymeria and fearsome pack in season 6 and maybe Arya warging into Nymeria.
Bran and Hodor come back again and that too with a bang!
Bran becomes much more powerful and with his tryst with the three eyed raven, the story unravels to bring forth Bran’s newfound powers like peering into the past. He will traverse to the The Tower of Joy, where Lyanna Stark was imprisoned and will peek into what really happened there.
This might answer our question of John Snow’s parentage and if he really is Ned Stark’s bastard or Lyanna’s son?
Daenerys is held prisoner by the new Khalasar
Daenerys is held prisoner by the new Khalasar and what to expect now? We saw her throwing away her only claim as Khaleesi, so it is sure she will not be claiming her Khaleesi crown. Then what to expect? Will Drogon come again to rescue his mother as always? Or will Dany be taken to unknown places where she will start her mind games again?
We need to wait and watch to get answers to Dany’s fate.
Tyrion Lannister has problems in Meereen
With Daenerys leaving, Meereen is under Tyrion’s control. But will he be able to be a King? Apparently not. The people whom Dany coaxed to revolt have revolted against Tyrion and there will be nasty riots to start with.
We need to check Tyrion’s PR campaign this season to take things back in control. Will he be able to do it?
This is just a few of the twists and turns we can expect this season. 6 days to go and we can’t wait to see what happens in Game of Thrones season 6.
