Kate Winslet, an Academy Award winning actress is always admired for her performance, beauty and personal life. She carries her beauty in a welcoming way embracing each adding year of age to her beauty.
At real time check across globe, women are made unique by god but of course not perfect. Fashion industry, always shows perfect side of women and this brings daggers down the confidence of women who do not fit the perfect bill of beauty shown onscreen.
Kate Winslet, who has recently signed a contract with L’Oreal, insisted to add on a clause of no retouch for any of her pictures in magazine spreads.
When Kate was asked why this decision, her answer was –
“I can only ever speak for myself and I can only ever do things that are important to me and it’s a hope that other people might follow suit,”
She said she feels a strong responsibility to “the younger generation of women”.
“I think they do look up to magazines and I think they do look up to women who have been successful in their chosen careers and they want people to look up to, and I would always want to be telling the truth about who I am to that generation because they’ve got to have strong leaders. We’re all responsible for raising strong young women, so these are things that are important to me.”
Kate, in 2009, got her frustration out and told Harper’s Bazaars after seeing her face altered on film posters.
“I have wrinkles here, which are very evident and I will particularly say when I look at movie posters, ‘You guys have airbrushed my forehead. Please can you change it back?’ I’d rather be the woman they’re saying ‘She’s looking older’ about than ‘She’s looking stoned.’ “
Living in age where fairness creams have taken over and women are accessorized to look beautiful, such bold act will surely encourage young women to be internally beautiful and embrace own beauty in the way they are!!
