Saputara is the eminent hill station in the Gujarat state. Saputara aka the ‘Abode of Serpents’.  The tribal folks worship a snake image on the banks of the river Sarpagana on the Holi festival.  It is considered that, Lord Rama spent 11 years of his exile in Saputara, perched on a plateau in the Dang forest area in the Sahyadri range of mountains. It is situated at an altitude of about 1000m above sea level. This beautiful hill station offers salubrious climate and panoramic view of the lush green forest. This place is popular as weekend getaway as it lies around 170 km from Surat, 80 km from Nashik.

How to Reach:
Nearest Railway Station: Billimora. Waghai, on the Billimora-Waghai narrow gauge section is the nearest.
Nearest Airport: Vadodara Airport.
By Road: Mumbai – Thane – Asangaon – Nashik – Khirad – Saputara.
There are State Transport buses and private luxury coaches from Waghai and Ahmedabad.

Climatic Conditions:
Summer: Around 32 oC.
Winter:  Around 10 oC.
Best Time To Visit: Mid-November to March. However, Saputara is a getaway throughout the year, a serene and calm place to spend cozy time in the womb of nature.

In Summer: Saputara is a great escape place to beat the summer heat. One can walk on the stretch of the Governor’s hill.

In monsoon: The lush green hues of the forest and the scenic views are breath taking. Waterfalls and undulating mountains makes this hill station a embracing.

In winter:  The cold weather and the fresh breeze from the dense forest will surely mesmerize your senses.

Sunrise Point: It is located around 1.5kms from Saputara towards Waghai. It is a place to enjoy the panoramic view of the adjoining region of Malegaon.

Gandhi Shikhar: This is sunset point offering dramatic view of Dang Forest. Sunset point can be reached by ropeway from Vaity Ropeway Resort.

Gardens: There are three outstanding gardens in Saputara viz Rose Garden, Lake Garden and Step Garden. In Rose Garden huge variety of roses can be seen, while in the step garden the arrangement of the flowers is catchy. At Lake Garden, diverse variety of multi-hued flowers can be seen.

Saputara Tribal Museum: It is a small museum displaying the tribal lifestyle. Visit this museum to witness the exclusive collection of ornaments, musical instruments, agricultural implements, house objects of day-to-day use of native Dangis.
