Virat Kohli, India’s full time captain was honored with Padma Shri award on Thursday by President Pranab Mukherjee. Kohli has had an exceptional year both as a captain and as a batsman as he created many records with his sublime form in the just concluded home season.

Virat Kohli was amongst the eight sportspersons who were honored with the exalted Padma Shri award alongside Indian hockey captain PR Sreejesh, Rio Olympics heroes-Wrestler Sakshi Malik, Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, Paralympian Mariyappan Thangavelu and Deepa Malik, Discus Thrower Vikas Gowda and The Indian Blind Cricket team captain Shekhar Naik.
