Indians have always been partial to the good old Hindi movies. We may buy expensive tickets for Captain America, but we will choose Singh is Kingg any day over The Winter Soldier on TV. English movies aren’t really our thing, without the songs and the drama and the extra hour-and-a-half of elaborate dialogues. But, while Bollywood basks in the glory of its 100-crore garnering films, Hollywood puts out some good stuff too – stuff we’d like to see remade as Hindi movies, Bollywood style!
We’ve put together a list of 5 movies that we would not shun our directors for remaking!
A Walk To Remember
This simple, beautiful love story based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks will be perfect as a Bollywood movie. It has just the right elements – young blooming love and a traumatic tragedy in the form of a fatal illness. Imagine the tear-jerking climax and the heart-rending songs.
Two best friends, same wedding date, same venue. Having a perfect day turns into a comic competition, with the ultimate happy ending. It would make for a perfect Bollywood chick flick, for all the Indian besties that are busy planning each other’s wedding day!
The Taken series
The three Taken movies are packed with drama and action, two elements that absolutely thrill Indian audiences. What could be better than an Indian remake? Think of the gorgeous Arjun Rampal as the retired Secret Service agent!
Cop movies are aplenty in Bollywood. One can hardly go wrong with uncovering scandals, staging bloody encounters and doing undercover work. The Departed is a great work of art that would actually be worth imitating! And, only Anurag Kashyap could pull it off.
Ah, the ultimate con movie. A bunch of rag-tags, a big casino, and lots and lots of money. Everybody enjoys watching the occasional grand robbery on the big screen, especially one done in style. Hindi movie directors wouldn’t lose much by at least entertaining the idea of a remake!
Indian audiences, let’s get these ideas out there! Leave a comment about your
Hollywood movie that you’d like to see recreated!
