Meet Krithika Ramesh and Sridhar Sivakumar, buddies who started KriSriKitchen and had a #100happybreakfast challenge between the two where they prepared different breakfast varieties for 100 days! Commendable, isn’t it?

Stylewhack Team got candid with the two! Let’s see what KriSriKitchen and #100happybreakfast was all about!

Where it All Started!

Krithika and Sridhar
The Duo!

Two friends who love cooking decided to do something interesting beyond the mundane cooking. They racked their brains and came up with #KriSriKitchen on Instagram where they challenged each other to go beyond the norm. Thus started the absolutely thrilling journey of KriSriKitchen which reflects the cooking passion of two friends. As you might have guessed, it is the 1st three letters from both their names – Krithika & Sridhar. The next step was to amp up the game and participated in #100happybreakfast challenge. Under this challenge they cooked varied breakfast items for entire 100 days! Beat that!

What All they Cooked?

Don’t you feel like gulping those aloos?
Yummy paniyarams, right?

The list is long and mouth watering! The pictures on their Instagram feed are even more scrumptious! They had samosas, idlis, dosas, upma, sandwiches to name a few household items. They also went astray from the normal breakfast items and prepared bruschettas, potato gnocchi, paneer tikki burgers, bakarwadi, stuffed mushrooms, baked kale chips and the list goes on.  For Krithika her favorite dish was ‘Oats Kuzhi Paniyaram’ and for Sridhar it was ‘Phulka with Punjabi Dum Aloo’! Delectable isn’t it?

The Ups and Downs

As you might have figured it out, the task was daunting and had its own ups and downs. The major rejoice was the immense positive feedback they got from their followers on Instagram. It was a great motivation. However the downfall was taking out the time amidst their busy schedules. Keeping up with his work schedule for Shridhar and a mother’s routine for Krithika made it a little arduous for the duo.

The Red Chutney Recipe

Today Avani Avittam – The only function for the male paavam 🙂 🙂 So the Breakfast is little special with Idli,Bellpepper Chutney (no onion,no garlic),Neiappam and how does it end without our traditional Filter Kaapi 😉 The divine smell of the ghee and jaggery brings such positivity to the entire house 🙂 When the men change the poonal and return from temple,We take Aarti for them and serve this breakfast ..I love my Hindu traditions and like to celebrate all the functions as it brings immense pleasure, Joy and cheer 🙂 🙂 – Day18 #krisrikitchen #100happybreakfasts #100daysofbreakfast #traditional #breakfast #avaniavittam #idli #neiappam #filtercoffee #southie #southindianfood #foodporn #foodstagram #bellpepper #foodie #instapost #instapic #foodpic

During the challenge, Krithika’s red chutney was much raved about and hence we asked her to share the recipe. So guys and girls, here is the famous recipe of the red chutney!

Servings – two people:
Any cooking oil [2 Tbsp]
Mustard [1 Tsp]
Urad dal [1 Tbsp]
Channa dal [1 Tbsp]
Red Chillies [6 to 8]
1 Big Onion [chopped]
3 Tomatoes [chopped]
Gingelly Oil [1 Tbsp]
Add cooking oil to the Pan.
Add mustard, urad dal, channa dal, red chillies to the pan and fry.
Now add the chopped onions and fry till it turns golden brown.
Add tomatoes and cook till it becomes mushy.
Turn off the stove and allow to cool down completely.
Add salt and grind it to a fine paste.

Now the gingelly oil to the paste to enhance the flavor. Your Spicy Red Chutney is ready.

So the duo completed the challenge successfully and motivated so many of us! They inspire us further saying, “Our greatest nemesis is always we ourselves, always finding a way to say ‘NO THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE’. Challenge that and push your thresholds, you may surprise yourself.

This duo also gave us some major friendship goals considering they are not even in the same country and still are so bonded. Just goes to show distance doesn’t matter in treasured relationships! Sridhar taught us that men can cook too and should learn how to cook as it a basic skill.
