Oprah Winfrey is an American media proprietor, tv show host, actor, producer and philanthropist. She was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement. And her acceptance speech is winning the hearts of the people and also received a standing ovation from the live audience at the award ceremony.
She started the speech recollecting a memory from her childhood when she was watching the 36th Academy awards sitting at her home and how inspired she was by Sydney Poitier who received the best actor academy award that time. And in the next statement, she said that being the first ever black women receiving that award she is now being an inspiration for many other little girls who are sitting somewhere and watching this.
She expressed gratitude to all those women who have been enduring the abusive attitude of their men and others around them. She also shared the story of Recy Taylor who was abducted, raped and left blindfolded by 6 men and warned her not to tell about this to anyone.
She also said that women have not been heard for too long time and now times up for all those powerful men who try to suppress women.
