So what are these vision boards? A vision board is a device to focus, clarify and/or concentrate on a specific goal or feeling. If you have read The Secret, there is a very popular concept mentioned in the book – “Everything that is coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it’s attracted to you by the virtue of images you are holding in your mind. It’s what you’re thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you“.
Vision boards help us do just that – Visualize what you want which creates persuasive frequencies into the Universe, transforming your visuals into reality.
The results of visual boards have been proved and many Olympic athletes use the visualization technique to achieve their goals.
So let us see how to create an effective visual board and how to use this visual board to extract maximum benefit –
How to Create a Visual Board
People often think that a visual board should be covered with all the material possessions one desires to have in their life. This might not be the completely accurate way of creating a visual board. The vision board which you prepare for yourself should emphasize on how you want to feel rather than the things you wish.
Here is an example – I have a picture of my vacation with family to Pondicherry on my visual board. When I look at it, I concentrate on the togetherness and happiness we experienced during that trip. This makes me feel happy and light and thereby I am attracting happiness in my life.
Another thing on my vision board is my Toastmasters Competent Communicator badge. This reminds me of the energy and motivation I receive at every Toastmasters session and hence I am attracting these vibes in my life.
So, the trick is to have pictures of items which induce strong feelings inside you when you see those items.
How to make the vision boards work?
- Look at the vision board for 5 minutes, focusing on each item for at least 20 seconds.
- After 5 minutes, close your eyes and visualize yourself in possession of those items and feeling what it would be like when you get those desired objects – What will you feel when you have this? What will you do with it? What are the ill effects of it? What might you be wearing when you have it?
This makes you feel as if you already have the desired object.
- Think, trust, believe that the object you desire is already on its way towards you.
- Do this every single day.
I don’t think there is any harm in trying out this visual board technique. So ruminate about your current goals from different areas including personal growth, health, career, home, travel, finance, relationships etc. and put up a board to focus on your goals.
