2016 – A year dedicated to Movies based on Sports


After Biopic movies, latest trend which has taken over the Movie Industry is that of movies based on sports. Sports is one topic which has always attracted Indian audience. Indian entertainment industry has given many hits which were based on sports.

The current year 2016, many movies are lined up on the theme of SPORTS, that too not just restricted to cricket. It is not just bollywood but marathi film industry is also gearing up to showcase some entertainment brilliance as always. Marathi film industry has forayed into new and unique topics and has brought many social issues into light.

This time also, we have a very exciting movie lined up for 2016. Surr Sapatta produced under the banner of I Speed Entertainment Pvt. Ltd will soon be seen on the big screen. The movie is directed by Mangesh Kanthale and is based on the state game of Maharashtra – Kabbadi.

M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story
The movie is directed by Neeraj Pandey and promises to tell us the untold story of a ticket collector to a trophy collector. Sushant Rajput plays the protagonist along with Anupam Kher and John Abraham.

Another movie based on a wrestler’s life, Dangal unfolds the story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. The movie is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and the role of Mahavir Singh is played by none other than the legendary Aamir Khan.

Azhar is yet another movie based on a cricket star which might be an explosive movie based on the much talked about life events in former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s cricket career as well as love life. The movie is directed by Tony D’Souza and Azharuddin’s character is played by Emraan Hashmi.
